Innovations and Advanced Practices in Nursing & Challenges to Provide Health Care
Dr. CindyPlonien DNP, RN, CENP is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas College of Nursing and Director of the Graduate Program in Nursing Administration. Developing nurse leaders to successfully encounter the challenges of today’s health care environment as well as the environment of tomorrow is her passion and commitment. In addition to her work as a program director and professor at UTA, Dr. Plonien has proposed and developed certificate courses in nursing administration for national and international distribution.
She received her Doctorate in Nursing Administration from Texas Christian University and her MSN and BSN from the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to joining UTA, Dr. Plonien worked in various leadership and management roles, inclusive of CNO and VP of Nursing in various hospitals and organizations in Texas, USA.
She has worked with UT Southwestern University in Dallas, Texas in the development and presentations of Quality Boot Camps (CQI) for leaders in Nursing, Medical Practice and Engineering. Recent publications include topics on medical tourism, internet learning, cyber-security, health information technology, budget management, cost control, administrative protocol, communication, continuous quality improvement, case management and the use of Six Sigma for revenue retrieval. Presentations relating to professional practice have occurred in international, national, regional, state and community settings. Certifications include: CENP, MBTI Consultant (Leadership and Team Building), and Lean Six Sigma in Health Care.
Dr. Plonien serves in leadership roles within the University of Texas at Arlington, the Texas Organization of Nurse Executives, as well as within the community in which she lives.
