Manuel Lillo-Crespo

Associate Professor

He is a member of the Nursing Department at University of Alicante and considered as the Team Lead and Manager for International Research Projects and International Mobility Coordination, as part of the Dean’s Office. His areas of expertise are: Management and Administration for Nursing and Medical Development (including Project Management), Healthcare/clinical Anthropology (based mostly on Qualitative Research Methodology), and Educational Research. He is a member of the Editorial Board and Peer-reviewer of Impact Factor Journals such as: the Journal of Advanced Nursing (JAN) and the Journal of Transcultural Nursing (JTCN), and other Latin American and Spanish professional journals. He has published articles in different JCR impact factor journals, written book chapters and lecture in many Scientific Events all over the world. Dr. Lillo-Crespo has been a member of the Nursing Competencies and Capabilities Commission for the Nursing Department, University of Alicante since the Bologna Process started in Spain throughout the European Union. Nowadays, he is an active researcher and team lead on different European Commission funded Projects such as: ISTEW Project (Improvement Science Training for European Healthcare Workers); Palliare Project (Evidence informed dementia care and family caring in the middle and advanced stages) and PPS Project (Peer to peer Support fostering Active and Healthy Aging) and Multidimensional Analytical Training in Education (MATE Project). He is involved as researcher in other national research projects such as: e-Atencro (based in e-Health) in collaboration with ICT and New Technologies experts and academics and funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy as well as the Automanejo Project (coordinated by the UniversityAutónoma de Tamaulipas) related to Self-management in Chronic Patients. Dr. Lillo-Crespo is also a Visiting-Professor at University of Tamaulipas and University of Coahuila, both in Mexico where he has developed several research projects and mentored PhD dissertations and courses. He is an external professor at University of Malaga (Spain) at the International Health Master Degree. He also teaches in other Master Degrees and Specialization Modules/Courses such as: Clinical and Community Nutrition, Healthcare Research, Emergencies, Active and Healthy Ageing and Palliative Cares. He is a professor at the Health Sciences PhD Programme, assessing nowadays PhD candidates worldwide. Dr. Lillo-crespo is an active partner of the European Advisory Board on Pressure Ulcer Prevention funded by Mölnlycke Healthcare.

In the Clinical fieldwork his background as a clinician comes from the Emergency Room (E.R.) and the Intensive Care Unit (I.C.U.). As a Manager nowadays, he has boosted healthcare professional decision-making towards efficiency-based and evidence-based solutions to develop Transversal Innovative Care Models accomplishing social impact through translational research. He is also an active member of the European Innovative Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA) and is responsible of the environmental quality development policy and healthcare quality development policy in his organization, having got the two Quality Certifications in the last 6 years.
