International journal of Nano Scientific Networks and Nanotechnology (IJNN) is a multidisciplinary, peer reviewed journal which includes all the major fields in nanotechnology and Nano science. Nanoscience and nanotechnology brought up an unprecedented excitement in the scientific and engineering communities, especially the last decade. It is the engineering of functional systems at the molecular scale. This covers both current work and concepts that are more advanced.  International journal of Nano Scientific Networks and Nanotechnology   publishes original research papers during a broad area of nanoscience & engineering. IJNN provides an ideal forum for presenting original reports of theoretical and experimental nanoscience and nanotechnology research. Nanotechnology is a gathering of rising innovations in which the structure of matter is controlled at the nanometer scale, the size of little quantities of molecules, to create novel materials and gadgets that have valuable and one of kind properties. IJNN is naturally multidisciplinary, and welcomes submissions across biological, physical, engineering, and computer sciences. Contributions from both academia and industry are equally encouraged. S. N. Kazi

Associate Professor

This is KaziMd. Salim Newaz, PhD, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Malaya. I have 18 years engineering service experience in petrochemical industries (ammonia and urea plants). I was later Head of Engineering and Construction of a chemical plant for 2 years. I have the academic background with B. Sc. in Engineering (Mechanical), Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Master of Engineering (Mechanical) and Ph. D in Heat transfer and Fouling Mitigation (Chemical and Materials Engineering). I worked as a consultant of International Companies, where I worked in a consulting team for gas pipelines layout and installation, gas drilling environment management etc. I have also worked for 2 years as plant Manager of a Hydrogen Peroxide Plant of capacity 60 ton per day.

After PhD degree from The University of Auckland, when I started my service in the University of Malaya, 2009 there was very limited research scope. I had introduced sophisticated research approaches on heat transfer to two phase flow and particle characterization, heat exchanger fouling and corrosion mitigation, separation flow, nanofluid synthesis and application as heat exchanging liquids. I have developed my laboratories from scratch to full blown laboratories. Later I acquired HIR MOHE grants for research and then also become leader of a 4 members (Academic staff) research UMRG projects. All the way I have tried to perform excellent success by achieving all the KPIS of the projects and introduced unique research in UM from overseas and my home country, New Zealand.

I have started with 1 Ph. D and 1 Masters Students and now I am supervising 8 Ph.D. and 2 Masters Students. So far I have completed supervision of 18 Ph.D. Students, 3 Master of Science and 12 Masters by Course. I have 189 technical publications in national, international and conference proceedings, of which 130 are ISI Cited Journal papers and among them 91 are ISI Q1 papers and 2 in Nature Scientific Reports (Q1). I have published 9 technical book chapters and edited 4 Engineering books. I am editorial board member of a few international journals. I have participated in 27 engineering international conferences, congresses and facilitated a whole day workshop in The Malaysian Institute of Engineers. I have delivered keynote speeches in Liverpool John Moores University in 2016 and Yildiz Technical University (ICTE17 Conference) in 2017.

I have h-index 37 and citations 4135. I have 6 patents and another 1 under process. I am an active member of editorial boards of 4 International Journals. I have evaluated 7 Ph.D. and 20 Masters Theses as Internal Examiner. I have developed an active research network both in home (5 research groups of 3 Universities) and abroad (10 Universities) which definitely contributed to upgrade the name and fame of University of Malaya. My fast expansion of research avenues have supported publications in high level Journals and enhanced number of Ph.D. graduates.

Interested topics/Research Statement:

My present research involves with the followings:

  • Heat transfer to two-phase flow, friction loss and heat transfer studies of suspensions of nano and small particles along with industrial applications are my major research areas.
  • Particle characterization by heat transfer and friction loss for fibers was extensively investigated by me. I have the interest to elaborate that further. This helps in paper making process. Drag reduction was investigated by me. I would like to engage in that so that materials could be transported through pipe line at low cost.
  • Friction loss and heat transfer to fluids in packed bed or porous media are also under my research plan which will benefit reactor performance of petrochemical industries.
  • Enhancement of cooling of electronic devices.
  • I would like to establish research on mitigation of particle deposition on heat exchanger surfaces. In petrochemical industries, chemical industries, power plants etc. heat exchanger gets deposition from mineral salts, crude oils etc. My research plan involves with mitigation of deposition on heat exchangers and prolonging continuous operation of the heat exchangers.
  • Renewable Energy: solar collectors, heating and cooling by using heat pipes, solar pond etc.
  • Refrigeration and Air conditioning: Chilled beam air conditioning, heating and cooling by using mini-channels, mold cooling enhancement by application of nanofluids.
  • Heat transfer and friction loss analysis of packed bed reactors and establish correlations to estimate possible catalyst changing requirement.
  • Corrosion study of heat exchangers with fouling, cleaning and mitigation of corrosion and fouling by additives benign to environment.In addition to this I would like to expand the research in any suitable relevant direction as per requirement of the University Authority.
