The Journal of Materials Science publishes reviews, full-length papers, and short Communications recording original research results on, or techniques for studying the relationship between structure, properties, and uses of materials. The subjects are seen from international and interdisciplinary perspectives covering areas including metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, electrical materials, composite materials, fibers, nanostructured materials, nanocomposites, and biological and biomedical materials. The Journal of Materials Science is now firmly established as the leading source of primary communication for scientists investigating the structure and properties of all engineering materials

The Journals reports principally the achievements of materials science and engineering all over the world, putting the stress on the original research papers, review articles invited by editor, letters, research notes with novelty as well as brief of scientific achievement, covering a broad spectrum of materials science and technology, encompassing:

Zhimiao Yan

Assistant Professor

Dr. Zhimiao Yan is born on Feb. 1986. He is currently the Assistant Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He received his Bachelor and Master in Civil Engineering at Chongqing University in 2008 and 2011, respectively. After that, He obtained his Ph. D. degree in Engineering Mechanics at Virginia Tech in Dec. 2014. He then did Post-doctoral research work at Virginia Tech until Mar. 2016. He moved back to China and became assistant professor at School of Astronautics at Harbin Institute of Technology.

His research interests mainly focus on (1) smart structure and vibration energy harvesting, (2) fluid-structure interaction and vibration control. With his PI projects supported by Fundamental Research Fund for the Central Universities and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, he developed new models for the galloping-based energy harvesters, proposed a new method for the analysis of vibration energy harvesters, and designed an autoparametric vibration absorber to control undesired motions and to harvest energy. With the project “Multidisciplinary Analysis and Design of Future Aerospace Vehicles” co-operated by the Air Force Research Laboratory of USA and Virginia Tech, key project of Natural Science Foundation of China, and his PI project of National Defense Key Laboratory Fund of Harbin Institute of Technology, he established a new model for unsteady loads on pitching and plunging airfoils with high angle of attack, developed an Open-FOAM model for the numerical simulation of transonic flutter, and introduced the nonlinear energy sink to control the vibration.
