International Journal of Genome science is a peer-reviewed open acess journal that publishes original research articles as well as review articles in all areas of Genetics. As a journal that has evolved with the field that carries its name, Genomics focuses on the development and application of cutting-edge methods, addressing fundamental questions with potential interest to a wide audience. Our aim is to publish the highest quality research and to provide authors with rapid, fair and accurate review and publication of manuscripts falling within our scope. This journal provides the means for scientists, researchers, medical doctors, clinicians and biotechnologists to publish original rapid communications, full papers and timely state-of- the-art reviews encompassing the fundamental and applied research in all areas of the genome science and technology. Highest priority will be given to short communications reporting important new scientific and technological findings. Short communications on new findings with breakthrough results will be considered for accelerated publication though authors should provide a brief description why the manuscript be considered for fast tracking . Genetics and genomics both play roles in health and disease. Genetics helps individuals and families learn about how conditions such as sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis are inherited in families, what screening and testing options are available, and, for some genetic conditions, what treatments are available. Genetics is a term that refers to the study of genes and their roles in inheritance - in other words, the way that certain traits or conditions are passed down from one generation to another. Genetics involves scientific studies of genes and their effects.

Ivan Y Iourov

Professor

Ivan Y. Iourov is ahead of the laboratory at Mental Health Research Center and professor at the department of medical genetics of Russian medical academy of postgraduate education Moscow, Russia. The focus of his research concerns biological basis of neuropsychiatric diseases and brain aging. Prof. IY Iourov has been working in the field of molecular genetics, neuroscience and cell biology since 1999 and has authored/co-authored three books and 211 articles/book chapters. The results of his research were distinguished by different local and international awards, among which SciVal/Scopus Award Russia 2012 (Elsevier prize), VM Bekhterev’s Prize for the highest scientific achievements in neurology and psychiatry and the Grant of the President of the Russian Federation. He is the founder, executive and section editor of Molecular Cytogenetics, editor-in-chief of Journal of Neurology and Epidemiology, and editor of

Current Genomics and Current Aging Science.

Prof. Iourov’s research is focused on uncovering molecular and cellular mechanisms of neurological and psychiatric diseases associated with the brain aging. Using post-genomic and bioinformatic technologies, prof. Iourov lab is pursuing the research of genetic (genomic) causes of brain pathology (i.e. intellectual disability, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, ataxia-telangiectasia). The latter appears to be an intriguing target for multilateral studies on accelerated brain aging at molecular and cellular levels. His latest studies are dedicated to evaluating brain-specific genomic variations and/or accumulation of somatic mutations in neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental
