International Journal of Genome science is a peer-reviewed open acess journal that publishes original research articles as well as review articles in all areas of Genetics. As a journal that has evolved with the field that carries its name, Genomics focuses on the development and application of cutting-edge methods, addressing fundamental questions with potential interest to a wide audience. Our aim is to publish the highest quality research and to provide authors with rapid, fair and accurate review and publication of manuscripts falling within our scope. This journal provides the means for scientists, researchers, medical doctors, clinicians and biotechnologists to publish original rapid communications, full papers and timely state-of- the-art reviews encompassing the fundamental and applied research in all areas of the genome science and technology. Highest priority will be given to short communications reporting important new scientific and technological findings. Genetics and genomics both play roles in health and disease. Genetics helps individuals and families learn about how conditions such as sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis are inherited in families, what screening and testing options are available, and, for some genetic conditions, what treatments are available. Genetics is a term that refers to the study of genes and their roles in inheritance - in other words, the way that certain traits or conditions are passed down from one generation to another. Genetics involves scientific studies of genes and their effects.

Shao-Qing Li

Plant Professor

Professor Shao-Qing Li was born in Hunan, China, he earned the doctorate on plant genetics in Wuhan University, and Master degree in plant science in Shanxi University. Before coming to Wuhan University, he worked in rice breeding in the Changsha Institute of Agriculture Modernization of Chinese Academy, and popularization of modern agriculture technology in agricultural administrative departments for many years. After earned his doctorate degree, he started to contribute to exploiting the potentially valuable genes hidden in wild rice through the wide crossing and employed them to rice improvement through molecular technology.  

Shao-Qing is an active, motivating and highly skilled breeding designer specializing in the innovation of elite rice germplasm, development of hybrid rice varieties.  He has more than 30 years of experience being a genetic engineering and genetic modifier involved in a wide range of fields of rice.  He worked from popularization of modern agriculture technology to general breeding, then nucleocytoplasmic interaction, heterosis, and now genetic engineering of plants. As director of the Key laboratory of indica rice heterosis and use of the Ministry of Agriculture of China, he is focusing on the exploitation of valuable genes from wild rice, especially for the genes related to high yield and defense against rice false smut. He has published over 60 peer-review manuscripts on the international-renowned journals such as Nature Plants, Plant Cell, New Phytologist, Plant Physiology, TAG, BMC Plant Biology, Frontiers in Plant Science, Rice, Molecular Breeding, Annals Botany (London), Plant Science, Plos One, Molecular Biology Reports, Functional Plant Biology, Mitochondria, Integrative Plant Biology, BBRC, Journal of Proteomics, as well as multiple Chinese publications.
